
Larry E. Mims, Sr. made his transition to his heavenly home on Thursday January 11, 2018.
Larry was born on June 14, 1954 in Hartford to the late Jasper L. Mims, Sr. and Corena (Walker) Mims. Larry attended Hartford schools and graduated from Hartford Public High School, class of 1972.
Larry held several positions at the following companies: Pratt & Whitney, Sealtest Dairies, Xerox and retired after 20 years from the State of Connecticut, Dept. of Corrections, Inmate Accounts. Larry was a member of First Baptist Church of Hartford later renamed The First Cathedral, in Bloomfield, for over 25 years under Archbishop LeRoy Bailey, Jr., serving as a Deacon and a member of the Trustee Board. He also served as a chaplain in the Connecticut prison systems.

The youngest of four children, Larry is survived by siblings Carol and Jasper of Bloomfield, and Lewis Mims of Windsor. Larry is survived by four sons, Larry E. Mims, Jr. of Dorchester, MA, Jharel V. Mims of Hartford, and Isaiah R. Mims and Aaron M. Mims, both of Colchester; a special daughter, Tindi Miranda of Dorchester, MA; five grandchildren, Tajah, Trase and Titan Mims of Dorchester, MA and Nina and Noelle Mims of Hartford. He also leaves many nieces, nephews,and cousins.
Larry’s love for his family and friends is evident in the way he would always be available to pray with you, laugh with you, and offer that compassionate listening ear and warm smile for anyone - he would always make time for you. Larry loved the Lord and he demonstrated it in the way he lived his life.

A memorial homegoing service will be held at 11 a.m., Sat. Jan. 20, 2018 at The Lodge, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor.
