Hartford Obituary: Stella Bendzinski, 102

Condolences to her family and friends.

Stella T. Bendzinski, 102, of West Hartford, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at her home with her family at her side.

Born on October 27, 1915, in Hartford, Stella was the daughter of the late Wojciech and Barbara (Pazek) Bendzinski. She attended Hartford public schools and graduated from Hartford High School, Class of 1934. Prior to her retirement, Stella worked in data entry for the former Royal Typewriter from 1934-1971 and CT General Life Insurance Company from 1972-1980.

A woman of faith, Stella attended S.S. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, where she was a choir member, and Our Lady of Sorrows. She was also a member of Catholic Ladies, the Elmwood Senior Center and Parkville Senior Center. In her leisure time, Stella enjoyed activities such as bingo, golf, duck pin bowling, and dancing many Saturday nights at the Polish National Home.

She leaves to celebrate her life, many nieces and nephews, Joseph Bendzinski of Keene, NH, Barbara Muchelot of Goshen, Jeanine McPhee and Madeline Keast, both of R.I., Tommy Bendzinski of Rocky Hill, Adele Landone and Estelle Bendzinski of R.I., Daniel Bendzinski of Hartford, James Bendzinski of Middletown, Annie Phelps of R.I., Dominic Bendzinski of E. Hampton, Rita Murphy of E. Hartford, Rose VanDover of Hebron, Michael Bendzinski of Hebron, Maureen Willcox of Glastonbury; niece by marriage Barbara Bendzinski of Newington and Alyson Bendzinski of NC; a sister in law, Muriel Bendzinski as well as several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Frank, Joseph, Victor and Henry Bendzinski and Nellie Mucholet, and many cousins.

Funeral services for Stella will begin on Thursday morning, December 21, 2017, at 8:45 a.m. from Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows. Stella will be laid to rest beside her family in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill. Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.at Newington Memorial.
