Hartford Police Seek Help Investigating Fatal Shooting.

A woman was killed at large, July 4 gathering in the city.

HARTFORD, CT — City police are still seeking the public's help after a wild, July 4 party seemingly got out of hand Monday morning, resulting in the shooting death of a woman.

Hartford Police Chief Jason C. Thody, at a press briefing Monday, said police were called to 29 Shultas Place in Hartford for a reported shooting at a house party there.

Thody said, when officers arrived, they found an unresponsive female shooting victim there who was eventually pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.

Jayla Heaven, 22 of Hartford, was fatally shot, Fox 61 reported.

In addition, a male shooting victim in his 20s went to the hospital privately, Thody said.

"His wounds, at this point, are non-life threatening," Thody said.

The chief said police are looking for anyone with any information regarding the shooting.

"We believe that there were dozens of people that witnessed this incident," he said.
