Hartford Police Shoot And Kill Knife-Wielding Man: Reports

Police were reportedly called to an apartment building on Thursday for a 'mental health evaluation' of a man.

HARTFORD, CT — City police and state officials are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened late Thursday morning in Hartford.

According to WFSB Channel 3, a Hartford police officer shot and killed a knife-wielding man at a Capitol Avenue apartment building at around 10 a.m..

The Hartford Police Department, Connecticut State Police, and the Connecticut Office of the Inspector General are investigating, WFSB reported.

Reportedly, police were called to the apartment building for a "mental health evaluation," WFSB reported.

The man shot was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died later in the day, WTNH Channel 8 reported.

The HPD has yet to identify the man, WTNH reported.

According to WTNH, state investigators have 48-96 hours to release body camera video and an initial report on the incident.
