HARTFORD, CT — A proposal to build a third casino in Connecticut is still going forward, but three of the five potential suitor towns, including Hartford, have been eliminated from the running. A release issued Friday by MMCT, a joint venture of the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes, indicated Hartford, South Windsor and East Hartford were no longer under consideration for the new casino. Windsor Locks and East Windsor are the lone two towns remaining on the radar for the tribal venture, as they "align best with our development models," according to Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council chairman Rodney Butler. We’re excited to invite students in&nbsp;grades 4–7&nbsp;to campus for&nbsp;S.P.A.R.K.—a free, hands-on&nbsp;morning of discovery&nbsp;at Kingswood Oxford on&nbsp;Saturday, May 16.
S.P.A.R.K.&nbsp;stands for&nbsp;Science. Play. Action. Research. Knowledge,&nbsp;and that’s exactly what the morning is all about. Students will dive into interactive labs, ask big questions, and explore how science connects to the world around them.
Throughout the morning, students will rotate through all three engaging sessions:
Snack Science: Cracking the Code of Carbs, Fats &amp; Proteins
Students will test everyday foods to uncover the building blocks of life - carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins.
From Cabbage to Chemistry: A Color-Changing Exploration of pH
Using red cabbage as a natural indicator, students will experiment with acids and bases and watch chemistry come alive in vibrant color.
Air Apparent: The Invisible Force All Around Us
Through hands-on experiments, students will explore the properties of air—and discover just how powerful something invisible can be.
