ICE Agents Seemingly Posed as Hartford Cops, Mayor, Chief Say

The mayor and police chief issued a statement Monday.

HARTFORD — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents had apparently posed as local police officers in an incident on Sunday, Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin and Police Chief James Rovella said in a report by Fox 61.

They said ICE agents wearing only “Police” identification attempted to get an undocumented person to meet them at Hartford's Public Safety Complex to be detained, Bronin and Rovella said in a joint statement included in the Fox 61 report.

They said there was no federal identification visible.
