Judge Orders Hartford Police Critic Blogger To Turn Over Laptop
A judge has ordered a blogger to hand over his laptop in an effort to reveal anonymous commenters.
HARTFORD, CT — A judge has ordered a blogger who often criticizes the Hartford Police Department to turn over his laptop. A police lieutenant is suing blogger Kevin Brookman and seeking to identify anonymous commenters who disparaged him on "We the People Hartford," which is Brookman's site, according to The Hartford Courant.
Lt. Vincent Benvenuto wants to reveal the commenters and sue them for defamation. He claims that his professional reputation has been harmed by the commenters, one of which described him as racist.
Brookman criticized the judge's decision and will appeal it.
