La Leche League of CT to Host Dr. Jack Newman for Annual Seminar
La Leche League of CT will host one of North America's foremost authorities on breastfeeding, Jack Newman, MD at Sheraton Hartford South.

From La Leche League of Connecticut: La Leche League of Connecticut (LLLCT) will host one of North America's foremost authorities on breastfeeding, Jack Newman, MD, at its annual Health Care Provider Seminar on March 30 at the Sheraton Hartford South, 100 Capital Boulevard. The seminar will run from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Dr. Newman is a highly sought-after expert on parenting and is the author of The Ultimate Breastfeeding Book of Answers and Dr. Jack Newman's Guide to Breastfeeding. As founder of theInternational Breastfeeding Centre and Newman Breastfeeding Clinic, he is well-respected for his 32 years of clinical experience.
The purpose of the LLLCT Health Care Provider Seminar is to provide the latest evidence-based information on breastfeeding. The seminar is targeted to physicians, nurses, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals who support breastfeeding dyads. By attending, professionals are eligible for continuing education credit.

Newman will provide a series of sessions that will enhance and inform a clinician’s work on the following topics:
- What They Didn't Teach You about Breastfeeding
- Introducing Solid Foods
- Controversies in Breastfeeding: Formula vs. Breastfeeding
- Late-Onset Decreased Milk Production
- When Baby Refuses the Breast
Newman will present his work that demonstrates a baby’s innate ability to find the breast, latch, and transfer milk, as well as how clinicians can identify and solve breastfeeding problems. He will present analysis on why some babies don’t gain well on breastfeeding alone after the first few months and will share solutions to achieve optimal growth. Newman will also dispel myths about breastfeeding, including the fact that certain medical problems do not automatically mean the baby cannot breastfeed. His talks feature videos of his work and include time for questions.

LLLCT will also present its Healthcare Provider of the Year Award during the seminar. It is awarded to a Connecticut healthcare professional who focuses on supporting breastfeeding families and/or advocates for breastfeeding.
