Large Fireworks Thrown At Officers, 3 Injured: Hartford Police

HARTFORD, CT — Three Hartford police officers were injured while responding to a large gathering that featured fireworks, police said.
One officer was struck directly in the chest with a large firework, police said. Police are investigating and whoever is charged will face several felony assault charges, police said.
Police responded to the area of Garden and Capen streets on reports of a large gathering with fireworks disturbance. As officers attempted to address the large gathering, unidentified individuals began throwing large scale mortar fireworks directly at officers, police said.

"This resulted in 3 injured officers," police said. "One officer was struck directly in the chest with a large scale firework that exploded upon impact. He was treated for injuries."
