6,100 jobs were created in June and the unemployment rate dropped to 4.4%.

From CT Governor: Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement on the monthly Labor Situation Report, which showed 6,100 jobs created in June and the unemployment rate dropping to 4.4%. In addition, May’s numbers were revised up by 2,000 to a total of 6,100 new jobs.

“Our efforts to create jobs and economic opportunities are working. Over the past two months, Connecticut has added more than 12,000 jobs. In particular, our manufacturing sector – which has been a central focus of my administration – continues to make substantial gains as we have simultaneously reduced the size of government. Coming on the heels of announcements by major companies that they will relocate to and expand in Connecticut, this jobs report is proof that we are moving in the right direction.”
