East Hartford Police Probe Shooting Death Of Waterbury Man
The EHPD says it has a person of interest identified in the case.
EAST HARTFORD, CT — Local police Thursday morning are investigating a fatal shooting Wednesday night that claimed the life of a 28-year-old Waterbury man.
East Hartford police have identified the victim as being Devonte Gardner, according to a release issued Thursday morning.
Police said they responded to the area of Park Avenue and Garden Street Wednesday evening, just before 8 p.m. to investigate a report of shots fired.

According to police, they immediately located a male victim, later identified as Gardner, on Park Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers started life-saving measures, police said, but the victim was pronounced dead after being transported to Hartford Hospital in Hartford.

"At this time, it appears to be an isolated incident and we do not believe there is any immediate threat to the neighborhood," the EHPD wrote.
"We have identified a person of interest and the investigation is very active."
