Man Falsely Reports Child Drowning In Hartford: PD

The man said that police don't care about the "poor black community" in Hartford and called 911 to test his theory, police said.

HARTFORD, CT — A man was arrested after he falsely reported a child drowning at the Willie Ware Center, according to police.

Police got a 911 call about the hoax drowning July 9 around 12:36 p.m. and quickly learned the caller wanted to see how long it took police to respond.

A witness told police that Jermiah Grant said police don't care about the "poor black community"in Hartford and that he called police.

Officers arrived on scene in an "exceedingly rapid response," police said in an incident report.

Grant was chargedwith falsely reporting an incident, interfering with police and second-degree breach of peace, according to Fox 61.
