Manhunt Underway In Hartford For Man Who Bolted Court

State and city police are looking for 24-year-old Marico Ellis, who was facing several felony gun, drug and assault charges.

HARTFORD, CT — A manhunt is ongoing in Hartford Thursday afternoon after an adult male appearing in Hartford Superior Court fled the courthouse.

State police at Troop H in Hartford were notified at about 12:04 p.m. Thursday that Marico Ellis, 24, of Hartford exited the courthouse at 101 Lafayette St.

He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants and no shoes.

State police said state and city police are looking for Ellis and anyone with information is asked to immediately call 9-1-1.

Police did not disclose the nature of Ellis' charges, but the online Hartford Superior Court database indicated a Marico Ellis was expected in court today for a hearing on multiple charges spread out over three separate court dockets.

Those dockets, according to online records, feature charges that include:

• Violation of probation.

• Multiple drug, gun and assault charges, including some felonies as well as reckless endangerment and first-degree threatening charges.

Those charges stem from a Jan. 20 arrest.

• Possession of a controlled substance (having greater than a half ounce of cannabis) and possession with intent to sell.

Those charges stem from an Oct. 22, 2020 arrest.
