Mobile Coronavirus Testing Comes To Hartford Area
A new partnership will bring 19 more testing locations to the Hartford area.
HARTFORD, CT — A new partnership between Trinity Health and Charter Oak Health Center will bring 19 mobile testing sites to the Hartford area in an effort to bring testing locations closer to people in urban communities.
The tests are free of charge and don’t require insurance, a doctor’s order or even symptoms, said Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin. People can call 311 to find out more or to arrange for transportation if they are unable to get to the testing locations themselves. They will be located in Hartford, East Hartford, Windsor and Bloomfield.
U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal said that mobile testing sites are a significant step to overcome the disparities of how the coronavirus impacts communities of color.

“The disparity in death between poor, black and brown and other communities is a national scandal,” he said. “It’s a disgrace and embarrassment to the wealthiest, most powerful country in the world.”
Blumenthal also said he is pushing for the Senate to pass the Heroes Act bill that would give financial aid to local towns and cities across the country. Connecticut stands to get $3.9 billion with Hartford getting $250 million over two years to help with costs associated with the virus response.

Gov. Ned Lamont said Connecticut now has plenty of testing capacity and the state is no longer on the hunt for things like swabs and reagents. He urged people to take advantage of the testing.
A similar testing strategy was deployed on the New Haven Green recently.
