Hartford Officers Identified In Police-Involved Shooting

The suspect is in critical condition after being shot by police.

HARTFORD, CT — A knife-wielding suspect was shot by an officer on Garden Street Friday morning, according to police.

Two officers were dispatched to a Garden Street residence on a domestic dispute report. The caller said a man was holding a woman hostage at knifepoint, police said in a statement.

The officers were confronted by the knife-wielding man and can be heard on radio dispatch yelling several times for him to drop the knife.

Officer Chris White, a 15-year veteran of the department appears to have fired his weapon, said Police Chief David Rosado in a statement. Officer Michael Bodner, a 10-year veteran didn't fire his weapon. Neither officer was injured.

The suspect was transported to St. Francis Hospital. Three other individuals were at the scene and will be interviewed as witnesses.

The Hartford State's Attorney Office is in charge of the investigation. State Police will also be part of the investigation.

“We are releasing all the information we have at this time,” Rosado said. “We immediately notified the Hartford State’s Attorney’s Office which has assumed overall responsibility for the investigation.”
