Hartford Reports Drastic Drop In Reported Crime: City

HARTFORD, CT — City officials this week released new crime statistics they say point to a steady decrease in reports throughout.

The numbers, which were provided by the Hartford Police Department, point to a 22 percent decrease in crime from 2024 to 2025.

"2025 was a year of real progress for Hartford," wrote Hartford Mayor Arunan Aralampalam, who posted the numbers on social media Wednesday.

"Crime declined citywide, reflecting the commitment of our officers, community partners, and residents who care deeply about this city. There’s more work ahead, but this shows what’s possible when we move forward together."

• 60 percent decrease in shooting victims from 2020 to 2025.

• 22 percent fewer larceny reports from 2024 to 2025.

• 50 percent fewer murders from 2024 to 2025. (There were 10 in 2025, 20 in 2024.)

• 31 percent fewer auto thefts.
