Community Partners in Action Prison Arts Program Alumni Show 2026

The public is invited to the opening reception celebrating Out of Prison Making Art, the 2026 Prison Arts Program Alumni Show, on Thursday, September 17 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Mallett Art Gallery at CT State Capital College.

This special exhibition, organized by Community Partners in Action (CPA) and CT State Capital College, features the work of longtime CPA Prison Arts Program artists, some of whom have recently returned home after more than 30 years of incarceration. The show highlights artwork created during their incarceration alongside work created since returning to their communities. What began as a way to build a positive, evolving life in prison is now an integral part of their lives in the outside world.

“Community Partners in Action's Prison Arts Program takes the time to know who is in prison and helps those in prison know themselves," says Jeffrey Greene, CPA's Prison Arts Program Manager. "We know almost anything can exist. A thriving, challenging art world does exist, now, in Connecticut’s prisons. Strong, confident, empathetic artists are now leaving our prisons, all the time.”
