Police ID Woman, 31, Killed In Hit-And-Run In Hartford

The woman died after being struck by a vehicle on Ledyard Street early Saturday, police said.

HARTFORD, CT — A 31-year-old Hartford woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday, police said.

The woman has been identified as Keyshia M. Ortiz-Benitez, who officers said was found on Ledyard Street near Wawarme Avenue at about 3:50 a.m. with life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from the Hartford Police Department. Ortiz-Benitez was taken to a hospital where she later died.

Police said the driver of an unknown vehicle fled south after hitting the woman, and detectives from the Hartford Police Crime Scene Division are continuing to investigate the hit-and-run.

On Saturday evening, Hartford police told Patch there were no updates to share in the case, including no new information on any potential suspects or whether anyone is in custody.
