Popular Hartford Pizzeria Building Catches Fire
15 people were displaced and a firefighter sustained minor burns while battling the Thursday afternoon blaze near a Hartford college.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford firefighter received minor burns to his face while helping tackle a fire above one of the city's longest-tenured pizzerias Thursday.
At 5:24 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at 1258 Broad Street. The building, located near Trinity College, houses Campus Pizza on the first floor and apartments on the second story.
Fire Chief Reginald Freeman said the injured firefighter received "superficial burns" and was transported to Hartford Hospital.

According to a Hartford Police Department report, all occupants of the building were safely evacuated prior to police arrival.
The report says investigation revealed a private contractor was performing repairs on the roof while utilizing a torch, accidentally igniting the insulation on the roof.

Six adults and nine children were displaced from their residences due to the blaze, and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
Repeated phone call attempts to the pizza parlor yielded only busy signals Friday.
