Prominent Hartford-Area Hospital Has New Leader As Parent Company Realigns Leadership

HARTFORD, CT — Saint Francis Hospital formally welcomed its new president Wednesday as Trinity Health of New England moves to a leadership structure that puts four of its hospitals under the oversight of one executive.

Dr. Robert Roose, who was recently named president of acute care for Trinity Health of New England, was introduced during an Aug. 26 news conference at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford.

In the new role, Roose has leadership oversight of Saint Francis Hospital and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital in Hartford, Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, and Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs.

Roose and Dr. Steven Hanks, president and CEO of Trinity Health of New England, delivered remarks during Wednesday's event.

Roose has worked for Trinity Health of New England since 2013 and has held several leadership positions across the regional health system.

A physician executive, Roose has experience in clinical care and health care operations, according to Trinity Health of New England.

The health system said his appointment is part of an effort to strengthen operational performance and collaboration among its hospitals.

Roose's leadership approach includes working with physicians, nurses, and other care teams to identify operational solutions and areas for improvement, according to the health system.

Saint Francis is part of Trinity Health of New England, which operates hospitals and other health care facilities in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
