Retired Hartford Deputy Police Chief Joins FOX61

He will assume the newly-created role of Chief Investigator for the TV station's newscasts.

HARTFORD, CT — Brian Foley, newly retired Deputy Chief of the Hartford Police Department, has been hired by FOX61 for the newly-created role of Chief Investigator for the station's newscasts, beginning June 18.

Foley, who started with the police department in 1994, worked his way up from patrolman to homicide detective to lieutenant before being promoted to deputy chief in 2014. He also served as the department's public information officer.

On Wednesday, Foley emailed all Connecticut media members, stating, "Thank you to all of you in the media who have been so very great to the Hartford Police Department and to me personally. I will miss you all."

In a news release issued by the station, Foley said, "I am honored to start the next chapter in my career with the FOX61 team. As the only television station based in Hartford, we will be in a great position to continue providing a strong community perspective and connection. I'm excited to get to work and learn from the best."

Liz Grey Godbout, vice president of news and news director at FOX61, said, "Brian is a lifelong Connecticut resident with decades of professional experience in the city of Hartford and surrounding communities. As a decorated former chief and true champion for our state, he will bring invaluable insight to our FOX61 viewers in our newly created role as Chief Investigator."
