At Season's Midpoint, Hartford Teams Have Clinched State Tournament Berths

HARTFORD, CT — With about six weeks remaining on the regular season schedule, a number of basketball and ice hockey teams from schools in Hartford and Tolland counties have already earned spots in the upcoming state tournaments.

Basketball and hockey teams with at least a .400 winning percentage qualify for states, meaning eight victories in a 20-game schedule puts a team into the tournament.

Here are the qualifiers from the region (highlighted in bold), as well as area teams with at least six wins through Jan. 20:
