Six Displaced After Hartford Apartment Building Fire: Reports

The American Red Cross is assisting six people impacted by the Monday night blaze.

HARTFORD, CT — A dryer fire in a Hartford apartment building Monday night resulted in six people looking for a new place to live shortly before the new year.

According to WFSB Channel 3, the Hartford Fire Department was called to 1450 Main St. at about 7:29 p.m. for reports of a fire at an apartment complex in what is called the "Clay Arsenal" neighborhood.

When firefighters arrived, they found a dryer fire contained by the building's sprinkler system, WFSB reported.

The apartment complex impacted is North End Gateway Apartments, with heavy smoke conditions reported in impacted units, WTNH Channel 8 reported.

The Connecticut/Rhode Island chapter of the American Red Cross is helping three families – six adults — impacted by the fire.
