SMSA Golfer in Top 15 at Girls Championships

The Tigers received an outstanding individual performance from its top player Tuesday at Tashua Knolls.

TRUMBULL, CT — New Canaan High School captured its third girls golf state championship, and first since 2008, by compiling a 348 total to best runnerup Fairfield Warde by six on a soggy Tuesday at Tashua Knolls Country Club.

No Ram player placed in the top 10 individually, but four team members finished between 11th and 20th to attain the victory.

Sarah Houle of Newtown, the only player in the field to beat par, took medalist honors with a 1-under 71, besting Praewa Treekul of Mercy by four strokes.
