TRUMBULL, CT — New Canaan High School captured its third girls golf state championship, and first since 2008, by compiling a 348 total to best runnerup Fairfield Warde by six on a soggy Tuesday at Tashua Knolls Country Club. No Ram player placed in the top 10 individually, but four team members finished between 11th and 20th to attain the victory. Sarah Houle of Newtown, the only player in the field to beat par, took medalist honors with a 1-under 71, besting Praewa Treekul of Mercy by four strokes. We’re excited to invite students in&nbsp;grades 4–7&nbsp;to campus for&nbsp;S.P.A.R.K.—a free, hands-on&nbsp;morning of discovery&nbsp;at Kingswood Oxford on&nbsp;Saturday, May 16.
S.P.A.R.K.&nbsp;stands for&nbsp;Science. Play. Action. Research. Knowledge,&nbsp;and that’s exactly what the morning is all about. Students will dive into interactive labs, ask big questions, and explore how science connects to the world around them.
Throughout the morning, students will rotate through all three engaging sessions:
Snack Science: Cracking the Code of Carbs, Fats &amp; Proteins
Students will test everyday foods to uncover the building blocks of life - carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins.
From Cabbage to Chemistry: A Color-Changing Exploration of pH
Using red cabbage as a natural indicator, students will experiment with acids and bases and watch chemistry come alive in vibrant color.
Air Apparent: The Invisible Force All Around Us
Through hands-on experiments, students will explore the properties of air—and discover just how powerful something invisible can be.
