State Open Indoor Track Championships - Hartford Schools

Hartford-based schools produced a two-time individual champion and four other placewinners at Monday's State Open championships.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The team scoreboard for the CIAC State Open indoor track championships contained one champion which had been there many times previously, and another capturing its inaugural title at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

For the second straight year and 12th time since 1998, Danbury won the boys championship, compiling 55.25 points to nearly double the 28 of co-runners-up Staples and Shelton.

On the girls' side, Bloomfield, winners of eight straight Class S titles, finally broke through to capture its first-ever State Open crown with 83.5 points, easily outdistancing Danbury's 30.
