Suspect Seen Breaking Into Hartford Retailer On Video Stream: Police

The 37-year-old male is in custody facing burglary charges after being apprehended inside a prominent discount retailer.

HARTFORD, CT —City police have a suspect in custody after they said he broke into a closed Dollar Tree store to burglarize the retailer, an act captured on a live video stream.

The suspect has been identified as Jonathan Felix, 36, and he has been charged with third-degree burglary, possession of burglar's tools, and interfering with police on Jan. 28.

According to online court records, Felix is still in custody and being held on a $50,000 bond, with his next appearance in Hartford Superior Court slated for Feb. 26.

Police said officers were dispatched Jan. 28 to the Dollar Tree located at 315 Franklin Ave. following a report of a live video feed showing an individual inside the closed business.

"Officers arrived quickly, established a perimeter, and coordinated with the Connecticut State Police K9 Unit (K9 Kilo)," wrote the HPD.

"Through the combined efforts of responding officers and K9, the suspect was successfully apprehended without incident."

Police said a business manager responded to the scene, and a review of surveillance footage confirmed the suspect forced entry through the front doors of the business.

No merchandise was taken during the incident.

Further investigation revealed the arrestee matched the description of a suspect from a prior burglary at the same location.
