Trooper Injured After Vehicle Hits Police Car On I-84: Authorities

The trooper was responding to a crash when the vehicle struck the police cruiser, authorities said.

HARTFORD, CT — A state trooper was injured after a vehicle struck a police cruiser that was responding to a previous crash on Interstate 84 East in Hartford, according to authorities.

The incident occurred Sunday morning near Exit 50, police said. The trooper was moving vehicles over to the right shoulder of the interstate as part of the initial crash response when a driver appeared to lose control and collided with multiple vehicles, including the cruiser with the trooper inside, according to police.

The trooper was taken to a hospital, police said, adding no other injuries were reported.
