Both Crashes That Caused Traffic Meltdown In Hartford Cleared: Update

Both happened at about the same time on Interstate 84.

HARTFORD, CT — Two separate crashes on Interstate 84 caused travel nightmares for motorists in Hartford Friday morning, but both have now been cleared.

According to the state Department of Transportation, the first accident was reported at 9:32 a.m. as a two-vehicle crash on I-84 east between exits 44 and 46.

That accident, reportedly, closed the right shoulder and it was reported cleared by 11:23 a.m.

Meanwhile, a second accident on I-84 east involved one vehicle between exits 46 and 48 in Hartford.

It was reported at about 9:34 a.m. and it resulted in the closure of the left and center lanes, according to the DOT.

The second crash reportedly backed up traffic 2.4 miles on I-84, but it was reported "cleared" by the DOT at 10:48 a.m.
