Urban League to Connect Employers & Job Seekers at May 20 Hartford Career Fair

Free Employment Empowerment Expo will connect hundreds of job seekers with dozens of local employers at Urban League's 26th annual event

On Wednesday, May 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Urban League of Greater Hartford will connect hundreds of job seekers with dozens of local employers at its 26th Employment Empowerment Expo. The free career fair will be at Dunkin’ Park at 1214 Main St. in Downtown Hartford, Conn. Advance registration is at https://ulghcareerfair2026.eventbrite.com.

“This career fair is as important as ever,” explains David Hopkins, President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Hartford, which has been serving Connecticut for over 60 years.“Our residents are facing financial challenges and economic obstacles that underscore the critical need for employment opportunities, workforce connections, and pathways to sustainable income.”

“This Expo brings together the people, resources, and opportunities that strengthen our community,” says Nicole Porter, the Urban League of Greater Hartford Workforce Program Manager. “We are excited to connect job seekers with career opportunities while also supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs through access to resources and, in partnership with the City of Hartford, potential microgrant funding. Our goal is to create meaningful connections that drive opportunity across the Greater Hartford community.”

Many of the participating businesses and employers at the May 20th Employment Expo work with the Urban League of Greater Hartford throughout the year, including Eversource, Key Bank, Hartford HealthCare, Oak Hill, CT Makerspace, Hartford Police Department, City of Hartford, The Village for Families and Children, Hartford Public Schools, and Wheeler Health.

Additional features include mock interviews, resume review, headshots, entrepreneurial support, and workshops on employability skills, professional development, and appropriate business attire. Hartford-based entrepreneurs are encouraged to attend to learn about microgrant funding of up to $5,000.

The Hartford Yard Goats organization is the event’s presenting sponsor. Wheeler Clinic will be recognized as the Urban League of Greater Hartford’s 2026 Employer Partner of the Year for its Top Workplace recognition and for embracing inclusive ideas where employees feel like they belong and the work for justice is ongoing.
