U.S. Airman Charged with Sexually Assaulting CT Teen

A member of the U.S. Air Force from Rhode Island has been charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl from Plainfield, according to multiple reports.

NBC Connecticut reports Nicholas B. Murphy, 26, of Exeter, R.I., was arrested by Plainfield Police following an investigation that began as a missing person case in September.

The 14-year-old was reported missing from Plainfield and police learned within hours that she was with Murphy, according to NBC.

The Norwich Bulletin reports that the teen and Murphy began communicating on social media while Murphy was on leave and had sexual relations.

Murphy turned himself into police on an arrest warrant.
