Victim Identified In Fatal Hartford Shooting Sunday Morning: Police

The incident happened at a convenience store/gas station in the city.

HARTFORD, CT — City police have identified a 25-year-old Hartford man as the victim in a fatal shooting early Sunday morning at a convenience store/gas station in Hartford.

According to the Hartford Police Department, the victim has been identified as Niajae Vernon, 25, of Hartford.

At about 1:42 a.m. Sunday, Hartford PD patrol officers responded to 3250 Main St. after reports of a person shot, police said.

"Upon arrival, officers located a gunshot victim who was unresponsive," wrote the HPD in a release Sunday. "The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased."

The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions are leading the investigation.
