A Vision to Help the Underserved

Hartford Hospital and Vision Health International partner to provide free vision care

(Victoria Okyere, Hartford HealthCare)

Hartford Hospital, Vision Health International, Malta House of Care and Starling Physicians Foundation hosted a one-day, free eye clinic for the Greater Hartford community. This partnership is all about serving those who face barriers to accessing eye care, including the homeless, low-income communities and the uninsured.

This special day provided 200 individuals with comprehensive high quality eye exams. Half of the participants were directly referred from Hartford HealthCare’s system-wide medical mission – Hartford HealthCare’s biggest community event of the year that provides free healthcare and essential services to those who need it most.

174 of those who joined the teams for the eye clinic will receive a much-needed pair of prescription eyeglasses during the month of December.
