West Hartford Police Catch Hartford Man After Daylight Attack Against Woman: Police

The incident happened Friday morning in a parking lot of a clothing store in West Hartford.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford man has been charged by West Hartford police in connection with a broad-daylight assault of a 23-year-old woman in a store parking lot Friday morning, police said.

West Hartford police said Friday afternoon that Francha Francis, 28, of 1955 Park St., second floor, Hartford, was charged with: third-degree robbery; fourth-degree larceny; third-degree assault; and second-degree breach of peace.

He is currently being held on $100,000 bond, police said in a statement issued at 3:27 p.m. Friday.
According to police, at about 10:30 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a disturbance in the parking lot of Pretty Woman, a women's clothing store at 36 Kane St.

Police said it was reported a male suspect grabbed a 23-year-old female in the parking lot and was physically trying to take money from her.

The suspect used "physical force" to steal the victim's wallet and ran into a nearby wooded area, according to police.

Members of the WHPD arrived on the scene, set up a perimeter and deployed a police canine unit, ultimately taking the suspect into custody.

Police said the female victim sustained minor injuries and her stolen wallet was, later, recovered.
