2 Hartford Officers Sent To Hospital After Powder Exposure

Officers were exposed during a drug raid Thursday.

HARTFORD, CT — Several Hartford officers had to be decontaminated after they came into contact with a white powder that may have been heroin or fentanyl during a drug raid.

The officers conducted the search Thursday morning and a suspect threw a package that released the powder in the air, police said.

Two Hartford Police officers were taken to the hospital for possible exposure and three suspects were taken into custody, according to the Hartford Fire Department.

Another four Hartford officers and a state police trooper were being monitored at the scene as a precaution, according to the Hartford Courant.

Garden Street between Mather Street and Albany Avenue is closed as police continue to investigate.
