1 Fugitive Apprehension, 3 DUI Arrests; 150 Speeding Infractions
Ledyard Police released statistics from the 2015 High Risk Rural Road Speed Enforcement Program.

The Ledyard Police Department and Ledyard Resident Trooper’s Office participated in the 2015 High Risk Rural Road Speed Enforcement Program from July 1 through August 31.
This enforcement initiative culminated in 280 motor vehicle contacts, consisting of:
- 3 DUI arrests
- 1 seatbelt infraction
- 1 fugitive apprehension
- 4 operating while under suspension misdemeanors
- 17 summons for uninsured motorists
- 154 speeding infractions
- 3 narcotic arrests
- 1 infraction for a cell phone violation
- 45 infractions for other motor vehicle violations
- 51 warnings for speeding and other motor vehicle violations
“The Ledyard Police Department was also fortunate enough to be able to purchase two new speed monitoring devices from this grant funding,” Sergeant Jeffrey R. McDermott and Lieutenant Ken Creutz said in a press release. “This was an outstanding enforcement initiative and we truly appreciate our officers for their remarkable efforts.”

Police thanked the state Department of Transportation for providing funding.
Ledyard Police Officers were out in force during the Labor Day Holiday week and accounted for 163 motor vehicle contacts, including five DUI arrests and one possession of narcotics arrest.
