2 Arrested on Separate DUI Charges in Ledyard

Ledyard police arrested two suspects on separate DUI charges over the weekend.

LEDYARD, CT - Ledyard police arrested two suspects on separate DUI charges over the weekend. Both incidents occurred Saturday on Route 12, police said.

Police said Catherine Lizzio's, 57, vehicle was stopped after driving all over the road. Officers noted a strong smell of alcohol emanating from the car, according to a release. (To sign up for Ledyard breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

The suspect admitted to having consumed alcohol, and police said she could not perform field sobriety tests. She was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive right, police said.

Police said David Waddington, 40, was also stopped Saturday night for speeding on Route 12 at Christy Hill Road. Police similarly noted a strong smell of alcohol emanating from the suspect's car.

Police said the suspect also admitted to having consumed alcohol and could not perform field sobriety tests to standard. Waddington was arrested on driving under the influence and speeding charges, police said.

Police said both suspects were released on a $500 non surety bond and scheduled court dates in May.
