2 Firefighters Injured, Dog Perishes In Ledyard Blaze: FD

The fire damaged a residence on Pheasant Run Drive, according to the fire department.

LEDYARD, CT — Two firefighters were injured and a dog died in a residential fire late Sunday on Pheasant Run Drive.

The fire was reported Sunday around 11:19 p.m., and the Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Company and Ledyard Fire Company responded, with assistance from mutual aid departments.

A caller indicated the fire had started in the garage, with multiple vehicles involved, and the fire was extending into the residence, fire officials said.

The two firefighters were injured during the fire suppression efforts.

One firefighter was transported to a local hospital before being transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

A second firefighter was evaluated on scene and did not require transport.

No civilians were injured. One dog was found deceased, officials said.

The Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
