3-Year-Old Child Shot In Hand In Ledyard

A 3-year-old child was injured in what police are calling an accidental shooting.

LEDYARD, CT β€” A 3-year-old child was shot in the hand Tuesday afternoon in Ledyard, according to a police statement. The call came in at 12:12 p.m. reporting the shooting at 6 Kerrie Court.

Ledyard Police, Gales Ferry Fire Company, L&M Paramedics, and American Ambulance responded. An initial investigation found that the child was accidentally shot in the right hand with a handgun owned by his father and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The child was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment.
