Agri-Science/FFA Open Horse Show is Saturday

'Rain or Shine' Event to Be Held at The Ledyard Fair Grounds

The 17th Ledyard Agri-Science/FFA Open Horse Show will take place rain or shine Saturday, April 30, at the Ledyard Fair Grounds. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., and classes start at 9 a.m.

The annual show regularly draws 300 or more people of all ages. This year's show will feature 42 classes and 12 divisions. It will be judged by Kathryn Parkinson, whose mother, Karen Parkinson, owns The Paddock tack and riding apparel center on Rose Hill Road.

"Each year we strive to make she show better than the last and we hope this year will be no different," said Agri-Science teacher Mark Grillo.

Registration fee is $10 in advance and $12 the day of the show. All proceeds from the show will be used to help fund student scholarships, awards and projects at the school and in the FFA.

Money from the show also has helped fund the construction of a large animal facility. The building, promoted and built by students in the agricultural department, provides a safe, convenient space to work with horses and other large animals.
