Fire Destroys 2 Vehicles In Ledyard, Fire Officials Say

LEDYARD, CT — Firefighters dealt with a blaze that started in a vehicle and nearly spread to a house in Ledyard early Wednesday morning.

Dispatchers alerted the Gales Ferry and Ledyard fire companies to the fire on Long Cove Road at 4:40 a.m.

Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from two vehicles that were "threatening two structures," according to fire officials.

They extinguished the blaze without it spreading to either home.

There were no injuries.

Several other area agencies were called in to deal with the fire and provide station coverage.

The Ledyard Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
