LEDYARD, CT — The Ledyard Farmers Market Committee will review its 2026 summer season Oct. 7 and consider several new expenditures, including $500 for gate repairs, a $500 reimbursement for a donation to Ledyard High School's agricultural program and an unspecified donation to the Ledyard Rotary.
The decisions will come as members review financial reports showing $4,321.17 in year-to-date expenditures and another $15,728.83 in open purchase orders as of Sept. 29. The town's budget report lists a $1,305 revised budget for the Farmers Market donations and grants account and an available balance of negative $18,745.
The purchase-order report provides additional detail on the $15,728.83 committed to vendors and individuals. Open orders include $6,345.20 through Corpay for miscellaneous Farmers Market expenses, $1,246.46 through Corpay for subscriptions, $1,020 for United Site Services, $1,000 for R&B Apparel Plus, $1,000 for Chairperson Pamela Ball, $996.61 for CWPM, $968.93 for LEDCOM and $776.63 for Copy Cats.
Other open purchase orders include $700 for the Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut and several smaller amounts associated with entertainment or committee expenses. The report also lists a $500 Corpay purchase order described as a Farmers Market charitable expense.
Against that financial backdrop, the committee will consider authorizing a new $500 purchase order with Riverhead Building Supply for gate repairs. Members will also vote on whether to reimburse Ball $500 for a donation to the Ledyard High School Agricultural Program made on behalf of the Farmers Market.
Another proposal would donate the Feisty Four Stringers' performance fee to St. Vincent De Paul Place at the musicians' request.
The committee could also allocate money for plaques for winners of "Best of Connecticut."
Members are scheduled to conduct a broader review of the 2026 summer market, discussing what worked and what needs improvement. Planning for next year will include reviewing committee members' duties for the 2027 market season and discussing a 2027 winter market and vendor survey.
The committee is scheduled to vote on its 2027 calendar-year meeting schedule and consider approving minutes from June 4 and Aug. 6.
The hybrid meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Ledyard Town Hall Annex, 741 Colonel Ledyard Highway. Remote participation is available through Zoom.
