LEDYARD, CT — The Ledyard Town Council takes public comment Wednesday on selling 11.46 acres of town land on Shewville Road for farming, and the Conservation Commission discusses the same sale Tuesday.

1. Hearing On Selling Shewville Road Land For Farming
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 6:15 p.m. (in person and by video)
Where: Council Chambers, Town Hall Annex, 741 Colonel Ledyard Highway
What to know: The Town Council will take comment on selling town-owned land at 480R Shewville Road, formerly the Loftus Wellfield, about 11.46 acres, for $150,000 to Kevin Blacker of Noank for agricultural farming, according to the legal notice. The buyer would pay to remove the property's water-utility-only restriction and would place a permanent deed restriction limiting it to farming. Written comments are accepted, and a special town meeting vote is scheduled for Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m.

2. Conservation Commission Takes Up Shewville Road Sale, Pollinator Pathways
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 6:30 p.m. (hybrid)
Where: Town Hall Annex, 741 Colonel Ledyard Highway
What to know: Old business includes the sale of 480R Shewville Road, the Pollinator Pathways project, property walks, a review of the commission's website and the town's Plan of Conservation and Development, according to the agenda. New business includes a landscaping quote to brush hog White Hall Park.

3. Absentee Ballots Available For Nov. 3
When: Available now; ballots must be received by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3
Where: Town Clerk's Office, Ledyard Town Hall, 741 Colonel Ledyard Highway
What to know: The Town Clerk's office has been accepting absentee ballot requests since Oct. 2, according to the town. Apply online through the Secretary of the State's portal or on paper, and return ballots by mail, in the secure drop box outside Town Hall or in person.

4. Personal Property Declarations Due Nov. 2
When: Due Monday, Nov. 2
Where: Assessor's Office, Ledyard Town Hall, 741 Colonel Ledyard Highway
What to know: Anyone who owns or leases taxable personal property in Ledyard as of Oct. 1 must file a sworn declaration with the Assessor by Nov. 2, according to the town. That includes unregistered and out-of-state vehicles, trailers, horses, construction equipment, machinery, business furniture and fixtures, and computer equipment.

5. Cemetery Committee Updates Cemetery Book
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 4 p.m. (hybrid)

What to know: The committee will hear reports on flags, adopters, veterans and preservation, an update on the Cemetery Book and the status of town cemeteries, according to the agenda.
