Every day is different in my job. We work mostly with dogs, as that is what we are hired to do. But our daily routine is so much more. You never know when the phone rings what the conversation may be...
Many times its a concerned cat owner about their missing cat, lost dog or on an occasion or two a lost bird. But we also get many wildlife calls that we are not licensed to handle. We have many resources and Wildlife Rescuers of CT is one of them. The group was founded by Maze Stephan, a licensed wildlife expert.
She has many volounteers that help that she has trained and are undergoing the certification process needed. We all love wildlife but not many are trained to handle it.

In the spring , especially, many fledgling birds are knocked out of their nests, new possum, skunk and raccoon mamas are hit by cars leaving babies behind. Young hawks and owls are knocked sensles by cars while learning to hunt. The group is contacted and rush to help out.
They are currently nursing some neonate possums with the help of a new incubator purchased with donations. A volunteer,Paul, isn't experienced enough yet to feed the babies but helps record their feedings, what time, how much ect...It is very exciting to watch.
