Soft vs Grand Openings

Do you know what a soft opening is? Do you know why restaurants have grand openings after they have already been open for a while? A grand opening is the official opening of a restaurant or store. Stores and restaurants need to test things out before they officially open. It gives the staff an opportunity to develop systems for themselves. It gives the kitchen a chance to improve upon the menu. 

I write this blog partly in response to the opening of Belle's Country Kitchen. Many people were very harsh on the restaurant. I realized that I grew up around restaurants and I understood the point of a soft opening.  I went in there expecting the service to have bumps and maybe something to be a little off. I provided my feedback directly to Mrs Trask directly. It was a well made morning meal (not all of my family ordered breakfast food) in a pleasant atmosphere. There was no smell of smoke nor did I witness the staff smoking outside. I am excited to come back and try the ice cream. I hope that everyone who wrote them off, will give them another chance after their grand opening.
