Stressing Over Reality Programs

America gets it wrong on American Idol.

“I’m boycotting!” “America got it wrong!” “I’m done with this whole thing!”

This is what I’ve been hearing about American Idol this season. I’m a little perplexed about a few things. This is Idol’s 10th season, I’ve watched since season 1. I think out of the whole 10 years of watching maybe 2 -possibly 3 - of the contestants that I really liked actually won.  Other than those few times, I couldn’t stand any of the winners.  Yet I’m still watching.

Let’s face it, every week someone has to go home, I mean this is the concept of the show, the viewer’s vote every week and every week someone goes home.  Who I think is the best performer is another person’s worst performer.  So how does America get it wrong? Aren’t we all Americans?  What makes me right and you wrong and vice-versa? It’s all a matter of opinion.

We cannot have 15 American Idol winners, only one.  Last time I checked it wasn’t the judges who were kicking off our favorites so why boycott the show?  They just give their opinions, but you, me, we are actually the ones that are supposed to call in and vote for our favorite.

I can understand your disappointment when your favorite contestant gets voted off, however this season Idol has a very talented group, and unfortunately each week one has to go.   Again, only one winner!

I got very upset when Pia Toscano was sent home, I thought she was sent home too soon, to me she had a voice of an angel, but looking back she didn’t take the judges' advice and continued to sing ballads, when they told her to change it up.

James Durbin  was sent home last week, he was a great singer, however he too didn’t change it up, he kept it consistent, which, on one note you would think is a good thing, but you can keep your genre consistent but change things up a bit, I did not see him do that at all.

I also think Scotty McCreery  should be gone, sure he is an excellent singer, but I have not seen him do anything different, he holds the mic the same way, looks at the camera the same way and smiles the same way. Like I said he is a great singer but he is too consistent.

I’ve heard Lauren Alaina  and Haley Reinhart sing many different types of songs, perform many different ways, stay consistent but they changed it up just enough, I do believe those two should be in the top 3. With that said, I may not be a Haley fan, but I can say she has done all she was told to do by the judges. She does deserve to be there.

So now you have my opinion on the whole outrage over American Idol. So keep in mind you must vote for your favorite, do not blame America for getting it wrong, try not to boycott the show, because in my opinion the show ( and feel free to leave your own opinions and comments below) will not last too much longer, NBC’s  The Voice  will take over.

Oh wait maybe not, coming soon is  Simon Cowell's new show on FOX, The X Factor . Now that is going to be one interesting, show. Until my next blog, have a wonderful week.
