Where did they get that?

A look at NHL's mascots.

Sports are big in my house. We watch and play as much as possible. I coach hockey and I have one hockey player and a soon-to-be player. There is one thing that I just don't get about hockey....The mascots and logos.

I write this watching the Boston-Columbus game. Columbus is wearing their retro-style sweaters that look a heck of a lot like the Penguins retro sweaters. They bear a cannon on the front and when Googling their logo (in a debate with my sister) I learned that they have an alternate mascot to go with these sweaters. Boomer the fluffy cannon. Then their main mascot...Stinger the green Blue Jacket?

I get some of them. Iceburgh is a Penguin. Tommyhawk is a tomahawk (Blackhawks). Wildwing is a Duck. Bailey is a Lion (Kings...King of the jungle) Blade is a Bear.

Then we have Harvey the Hound (Flames) Spartcat (Senators) Sparky the Dragon (Islanders) Louie (Blues) Fin the Whale (Canucks)?

I just don't get it. Ahhhh but mascots and logos aside...hockey is quickly becoming my favorite sport.
