Young Professionals of Eastern CT Give Back to Community

The Young Professionals of Eastern CT recently concluded a successful food drive, in which more than 500 items were donated to local food pantries.

The Young Professionals of Eastern CT recently held a food drive, and concluded the drive at their November "YPsocial" at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. Over 70 members attended and brought with them both personal food donations and food they had collected at their respective places of business.

The group, an initiative of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut,  presented approximately 500 food items, including 60 pounds of rice, over 30 pounds of pasta, and hundreds of soups, veggies, and other canned and dry goods, to the St. Vincent de Paul Place in Norwich and the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center in New London. Representatives from both organizations were on hand to receive the donations and enjoy the event.

YPs that night also heard lessons learned and personal advice from guest speaker, Tribal Chairman Rodney Butler. Butler generously came up with a spur-of-the-moment giveaway, a free night at Foxwoods hotel, and the museum donated free museum passes and $200 to any Foxwoods restaurant to 2 lucky members.
