UPDATE: Garage Burned, Vehicle Destoryed in Heavy Ledyard Fire
Fire officials ask travelers to avoid the area.

LEDYARD, CT - Fire officials said firefighters battled a heavy fire Friday morning in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard, according to media reports.
The fire broke out on Warbler Way earlier in the morning, according to NBC Connecticut. Several departments and mutual aid are responding.

Fire officials said the homeowner, who was outside the home at the time, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of possible smoke inhalation, according to The Day. Nearby departments had to shuttle in water tankers, as the area is not serviced by fire hydrants.
