Dewey's Big Adventure

Dramatic Rescue in Deb Evans' Special Resources Class

Deb Evans, the Special Resources teacher at Ledyard High School, keeps a large tank of fish in her classroom, mostly koi and comets -- big goldfish. Naturally, they all have names. "Dewey" was not having a good day Thursday. "He must have been feeling anxious," Evans said. She and some friends were in an adjoining room during lunch. "Suddenly we heard a big spat," she said. They rushed to the tank and found that Dewey had jumped out through an opening in the back. "I didn't know they could do that," Evans said. She estimated the Nemo wannabee was out of the tank for about 30 seconds -- not long enough to get very far -- but still a pretty good story to share with his friends.
