Driver Intentionally Crashes Into Ledyard PD Cruiser: PD

The driver fled at speeds exceeding 80 mph.

LEDYARD, CT — Ledyard Police are looking to identify a motorist who recklessly drove and then purposefully crashed into a police cruiser Sunday.

Police tried to stop a black BMW for speeding near Rt. 214 and Spicer Hill Road. The operator fled at speeds exceeding 80 mph and crashed int oa waiting cruiser. The officer in the cruiser sustained a minor injury and the cruiser was totaled.

The BMW was last seen in a private driveway on Matthewson Mill Road where the operator fled and a homeowner confronted him.
